i have been looking for a generator which could power a florecent light bulb for atleast 48 hours and would it cost me any more than £500? i do not mind if it is second hand neither, the light bulbs are usually around 700w and 13a i think.

Scott – You must evaluate any potential generator for both its output and its operating time. The former is simple: You need 700W…. You need a 1 kW generator. The ability to operate for 48 hours will be determined by the size of the fuel supply. Barring some other problem (running out of lubricant, etc.) your generator will run until it exhausts its fuel.
Finally, I think you need to check your figures: 700W is a huge fluorescent bulb. And 700W from 13A indicates ≈ 54 volts….
Honda generators are the best. Find more about them here LANDSCAPINGIMPROVEMENTS.COM
